No gutter screen on the market eliminates the need for cleaning entirely. Pollen, shingle grit, and pine needles in particular can pass through or accumulate on top of most screens over time. In Atlanta, pine needles are the biggest factor, and they're thin enough to slide through many screen openings.
What screens do well: they block leaves, twigs, and larger debris. For homes with heavy oak, maple, or poplar coverage, a good screen can cut cleaning frequency from two or three times per year down to once. If you're dealing mainly with pine needles, talk to us before buying anything. We'll tell you honestly whether screens make sense for your situation.
